Speed techniques are built into the course and our average student should be able to groom 6-8 dogs a day by themselves after 2 months in a work environment.  In school our focus is on the highest level of quality.  If that is your focus, Golden Paws is the school for you!

Dear Mitzi,

It is hard to believe that we are already in our fifth year o business. Every year has been better than the last. And even though there are several competitors in our town, we continue to grow at a rate of approximately 30 new clients a month. We contribute this to the great training I received while attending your school. With that said, my wife and I extend to you a very heartfelt thank you.

I had never even picked up a pair of clippers before my first day of training at Golden Paws.. and within weeks I moved to a new town, and opened a new business. My co-workers and family thought we were crazy. We had no nest egg… we had no plan 3. We did, however, have a lot of faith, and good hands-on training. During the first several months of opening our business, Classy Canines, it was so comforting to know that you were just a phone call away to answer any grooming questions that I had. As busy as you are, your staff was always gracious with their time and happy to support me in any way. It is really nice to know that you and your staff take such pleasure in sharing your student's accomplishments.

In leaving my job as a Lieutenant of Correctional Officers for the state prison system, I was taking a very big risk… that is why I spent a lot of time researching my training options in the pet grooming industry. I knew at once when I visited Golden Paws that your school was the place to help me start my new career. The instruction was thorough, the atmosphere was pleasant, and I left within a few short weeks with enough skills to open my own business.

Thank you for changing my life as well as my family's. I went from a low-paying, thankless job to owing my own business where every day is new and exciting. It is such a pleasure to see a customer's eyes tear up because they think their "baby" looks so cute. Financially speaking, our income has increased 8 fold in the last five years… so much so that we went from one car and living in an apartment, to two brand new cars, a brand new home, and adopting a baby girl from China. In January 2003, I retired from the US Postal Service, and started plans for a new career as a dog groomer. After considerable research, I decided to attend the Golden Paws School of Grooming in Houston, Texas (even though I live in Reno, Nevada). I started at the school in February of 2003, and graduated in April. In May 2003 I returned to Reno, and was hired immediately to work at a small local pet groomin shop. I then purchased a mobile grooming van, and opened my own business in January of 2004. My business has grown newar the point of having to limit clients.

I believe I owe this success in large part to the training I received at Golden Paws. The school stressed safety, cleanliness and professionalism. Concern for the welfare of animals was paramount. The emphasis on those points was a large part of my reason for choosing Golden Paws, and are also the major emphasis of my business today.

Margie, the instructor at Golden Paws, is phenomenal. She was able to relate to the different skills and needs of all types of students, with varied backgrounds. She taught difficult skills to all of us would-be groomers who could barely hold a pair of scissors, kept us from hurting the dogs, or ourselves, demanded a high level of competancy, and still supported all of us through stress of learning a new job. She was never too busy for questions, and would stay late to help any of us.

I still refer to my notes and my workbooks from Golden Paws, and I still contact Margie with questions. I also have the note she wrote me, saying "Always remember, yes you can." It is posted in my van. Teachers like that are hard to find.

Golden Paws set a wonderful example of how a shop and a school for grooming should be run. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is serious about learning dog grooming. I am greatful for the training they gave me.
